ABOUT OUR SCHOOLS SUPPORT
PROGRAMME

Excell 3, under the patronage of the Hon Lord Morris of Handsworth OJ, is committed to supporting the Governments agenda for transforming education through such programmes as academy schools. Plans are underway to lead on the development of an Academy school in partnership with other committed organisations. In addition, we will also be working in partnership with other academies to share our expertise, as part of our commitment to transforming education in throughout the UK.
Our aim for the academies that we lead on is to raise educational standards and reduce the effects of economic and social deprivation by building upon the work of the organisation, particularly our flagship project, the National Black Boys Can Association. We will actively engage with the private sector in response to the calls of industry and commerce for a more enterprising culture to nurture, grow and harness the latent skills of our young people to increase the personal, social and economic well being for our future.
Our track record in activities addressing the needs of disadvantaged and disaffected children in this country, places us in a unique position to address the needs of all pupils, including the most disaffected and marginalised. The school will therefore be a mixed, all ability secondary school serving a multicultural community.
We believe that education is a liberating tool and is invariably linked to personal, social and economic achievement. In this we seek to unleash the untapped potential which exists within the UK’s diverse nation, to empower them. We want to invest in our children now to enable them to become successful adults of tomorrow. By adopting this broader approach to education we will equip pupils to engage and participate more fully in the world of work and contribute to making the British economy more competitive. We recognise that in order to foster economic growth in the nation, pupils need to have a greater awareness of business management and commerce underpinned by high levels of academic qualifications before they enter the world of work.
As a national organisation, we have recently been chosen to be one of the 11 national strategic partners with the Department for Communities and Local Government to promote stronger partnerships between the third sector and the statutory sector, working specifically on issues of inequality and education. With this background we are in a strong position to deliver:
- Increased Pupil Engagement
- Increased Pupil Achievement
- Increased Community Participation
Our approach is in line with the government strategies to involve the public, private and third sectors to act in partnership through initiatives such as City Academies to deliver the strategic aims of "Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society" - by increasing race equality and community cohesion, we believe that:
"In a diverse society, meeting the needs of all communities is a fundamental task for all public services" "Young people from different communities should grow up with a sense of common belonging"
In response to the above agenda, we have already demonstrated a track record in improving opportunities for young people and to developing an inclusive sense of British identity. We will help young people develop mutual understanding and social participation by embedding the development of citizenship education in schools and providing increased opportunities for volunteering. In addition, it will be an opportunity to support the development of specific and generic skills that students require, and thus address the skills shortages – an ever present issue within growing sectors of the new economy.
We are looking forward to making an even greater contribution to the UK in making it a vibrant and socially cohesive society, which can respond to the cultural, social and economic needs of a diverse nation. We are ambitious for ourselves and for our nation that it will reflect and use all the talents within.
